Ilha Bela

Today was another eventful day starting off with a 3 hour bus ride to Ilha Bela. Before boarding the bus we went to use the bathroom in the bus station, but you had to pay to use it! So we decided to stick it to the man and hold out. When we boarded the bus we found out the bus actually had a bathroom on it, what a relief! But I still wanted to wait as long as possible.
Dayne had mentioned this fantastic view at the top of the pass on the way to Ilha Bela. So we took some short naps and was ready for the view, what did we see when we got to the top? Absolutely nothing. We were literally in the clouds! Ha! Of course that would happen. Oh well, on our way down on the other side there was still a great view.
So you know how I decided to wait to go to the bathroom? Well towards the end of the bus ride I really couldn't wait any longer. We had just pulled over at the last bus stop before our stop. I thought, "hey, maybe we'll be here awhile, I can probably just use the bus bathroom real fast before we get on the road again." I ventured back to the bathroom, and well lets just say it was smaller than a port-a-potty. In the middle of being done I felt the bus rev its engine and come alive. "Hurry!" I told myself. Well, I didn't make it, the bus was back at its usual stop, go, bump, tilt, I felt like I was in a miniature port-a-potty that was being tossed. So here I am squatting (it was a pretty nasty toilet and you could tell some liquids had splashed out from the rumble of the bus... there was no way I was going to sit on that) trying to wipe while holding on to the bar on the wall (Now I understand its purpose in that location), while trying to remember to not flush the dang tp. It was the most intense potty session I have ever dealt with.
That bus station where I used the bathroom turned out to be the one we were supposed to get off at. But instead we stayed on for another 10 minutes. Well when we got off the member, President Paulo (he was the branch president in a ward Dayne served in and was who we were going to stay a few days with), who was supposed to pick us up was no where in site. So we picked up our bags and walked 1.5 hours back the way we came on the bus, to the area the member lived. After searching for his house and acquiring a new blister we called surrender and borrowed someones phone. He found us within minutes and rescued us. But hey we saw some pretty cool stuff along our walk that they use during Carnival so that's cool!
On a lighter note, a family we visited tonight, Irma Duce and her family, had a parrot! Dayne and I both were able to hold it. The bird did well considering the entire time it was on our shoulders the owner was threatening the bird, "Don't you bite him, I'll hit you!" Haha very reassuring.

We were also able to visit another family from the ward, Henrique's family. They were great and as usual offered us food and a drink (all of the families we visited did that, they are all so hospitable its amazing).
Tonight Dayne had me try Acai to prove that it is better than what I had in Hawaii. To be honest? It tasted pretty dang similar.
It was just so nice to have President Paulo drive us around instead of walking. My legs definitely needed the break!
My favorite part of the day? Being able to laugh with Dayne about our yet another mistake causing us to walk 4 miles with luggage in tow. You could literally point out the tourist a mile away.
