Potty Training

Potty training is not for the faint of heart! Last summer (2018) Noah had just turned 2 a few months prior. He was watching Daniel Tiger, and it happened to be an episode about potty training. In the middle of the episode Noah ran up to me and exclaimed, "Mommy! Potty!" and headed straight to the bathroom. I hurried in behind him and helped him up on the toilet. His very first trip to the bathroom was successful! Here's where I dropped the ball, I was too scared to cease the opportunity and pull trigger and just potty train him. I didn't know any techniques, I was totally unprepared. The next 3 months I casually asked him if he wanted to use the toilet, some days he would and some days he wouldn't.
In November I bought him his first pair of undies, thinking okay, this is it! We are going to do this! The first day he thought it was pretty cool, he drank more juice that day than he had in his entire life. The next day, he was over all the juice and done going to the bathroom every 20 minutes. He refused to put on the underwear.
Fast forward to February and I bought him the coolest undies around, superheros! He was excited this time around! Basically I have just been reminding him to go to the bathroom every few hours. Every morning I have to keep an eye out for "the look" and make him run to the toilet! We've had a few accidents, but not as many as I expected (knock on wood). Unfortunately he's still wanting to wear his diapers for naps and bedtime. Which I'm not ready to fight him on since I don't want him giving up his naps altogether. Since I'm still dealing with Mason being a newborn and not sleeping much, I'll do just about anything to keep him napping! Hopefully things keep going good! Fingers crossed.
