Hello everyone! Oh man I just love you. You are all so GREAT!
This week has been such a good week! We have been really trying to zero in on getting more investigators and more baptismal dates, as well as getting the members more involved. And I think we had a pretty successful week. We were finally able to make contact with a Gladys Knight referral, Marco, he is amazing! We sat down with him for our first time meeting him and did How To Begin Teaching and got to know him pretty well I'd say. Towards the end of the appointment I got the same feeling I get when I'm sitting in a pew in Fast and Testimony Meeting when I feel something stirring and I know I need to get up to the stand. I knew that it was the right time and circumstance to commit him to baptism. We did, AND HE ACCEPTED! August 1st... I'm so excited for him! This is going to be the best thing he has ever done, and bonus, he's really excited too!! He's excited for the opportunity to start over. Oh and at that same appointment we asked him who he got invited to the Gladys Knight choirside from and it was a guy in the ward- who we had no idea was even involved in anyway! So on Sunday we got to tell the member about the good news and he was SOO EXCITED! He was really just shocked because "all [he] did was invited him to the choirside" I love it though because it just goes to show how something so little as inviting him to something has now made it possible for him to get baptized and take this step of returning back to our Father in Heaven. It's proof, it's not hard THAT hard to simply invite someone to something- and look at the incredible results it can have and the difference it can make. And with Marco having this friend in the ward, it will help this change of life for Marco happen.
We also have an investigator getting baptized this Saturday, Deirdre, she is amazing. She's been investigating for a while now but dropped the missionaries before because she just felt way too pressured to get baptized. This time around, she is doing absolutely great. Her boyfriend was there every step of the way investigating with her, and now they are both getting baptized on Saturday. We had her baptismal interview last night and her and Kevin (the bf) were just beaming! Deirdre even put up a facebook event for it, and stood up in sacrament to announce it, I love their enthusiasm. Life is good. It's so incredible to see lives change so drastically, 180 degrees, people find true and LASTING happiness! I just love it and I LOVE being apart of it!
Life is great and I love being a missionary. Sister Stott and I were just talking about how we will ALWAYS be a missionary- with or without the tag- we're doing it. We will NOT be the ones that go home and get lazy about bringing others unto Christ. No way, no how, not going to happen- this is just all too beneficial for everyone to let that happen.
Well I hope you all have just a great week. Here's a great quote I found the other day from Elder Eyring:
“I bear you my testimony that God the Father lives. He set a course for each of us that can polish and perfect us to be with Him. I testify that the Savior lives. His Atonement makes possible our being purified as we keep His commandments and our sacred covenants. And I know from my own experience that He can and will give us strength to rise through every trial. . . . This is the Lord’s true Church in which we are, with Him, lifting each other and being blessed to succor the fellow sufferers He places in our way.”
I encourage everyone who reads this to look around and lift each other up- those who are in the church fully active, those whos testimony is struggling, and those who are not of our faith. People are in are paths for a reason, and God has placed them there because he trusts you that you will make a difference in their life. There is a great work going on of sharing and spreading the gospel around the world and among our friends, family and neighbors, join us in our pursuit to "rescue". I love you all and pray for you everyday.
Love,
Sister Kimaree Miller
