This summer was definitely one of the best summers ever! Dayne had an internship/summer job in Utah that started right after our Miller family reunion. So I quit my job in Rexburg and followed him down to Utah (looking back I don't think I ever really had any intentions of getting a job in Utah... I was just ready to hang out and do whatever whenever. And let me just tell you, I DID!) Dayne had a pretty brutal schedule that consisted of waking up early to teach swim lessons for 8 hours in the scorching sun and then eat a quick dinner and scurry off to Intermountain Hospital for his internship which lasted until about 11 every night. Although he was constantly tired, he was a champ at tagging along with me to do whatever my little heart desired.
Dayne's family has a motorized scooter that I loved to ride around Draper, and free slurpee day at 7/11 gave us a great excuse to ride it! So off we went to feed the ducks and get free slurpees. I'm sure we looked funny, but I loved every minute.. awe the wind in my hair. Is it weird I'm slightly interested in buying a motorcycle someday?
The ducks literally ate the bread right out of our hands!
I was feeling a bit ambitious and thought hey, a scooter ride up to the temple, we can do that! Plus, it was another reason to ride the scooter. Well let me clarify, I rode that scooter while Dayne got shafted and had to ride his bike... poor guy was huffing and puffing as I just scooted along sipping my camelback!
We were even able to go to Lake Powell with the Shaws! We had an absolute blast. I was sore after the first day which made for a long week, but hey we kept on trucking!
I was even able to get up on the Sky Ski! Well for a couple seconds anyway. If you look close you can see pure excitement and to be honest a look of shock that I actually got up! However, there's a reason the wake hasn't completely formed yet in the picture... I was so excited to be up that I forgot everything I was taught! I let out a hoop and holla but then I falla... haha yes, I fell, again.
To everyone's surprise Dayne and Brock actually landed and stayed on after this picture! I'm not kidding, really, they didn't fall.
One of the best part of my summer was being so close to Jana's cute family! I was able to hang out with her at least a couple days every week, it was awesome.
I was able to play with these munchins all summer long! I chased them around, gave them lots of horsey rides and I was even able to watch their swim lessons and T-ball games!
Ok, can I just say these boys are growing up so fast. However lets turn our attention to Carson and his car! Look at him. He is such a little stud, and he knows it!
We went up to the Shaw's cabin a couple times this summer. At first it was just to go 4-wheeling and paddle boating, but then it turned into renovating their cabin. It was brutal. I learned how to tear up carpet, rip up tile and lay hard wood floor. We had to head back up to Rexburg before it was finished so I'm excited to see the end result!
To finish out the summer we had the opportunity to go to Puerto Vallarta with my parents and boy did we seize that opportunity! On this adventure in particular we were able to go head first zip lining, up-side-down, archery, ATVing and even a rope coarse!
Ok can I just say I thought paddle boarding was going to be a walk in the park? Not literally of course, but I thought it was going to be dang easy! Psych. Our instructor took us paddle board surfing in an area where there was a reef just a foot below the surface! I was terrified. But I did it, we survived and it was fun!
Surfing was even harder than paddle boarding. This might have been because we went on a stormy day, but lets just say I got trashed by those waves and I could not control my board! Dayne picked it up as if it were a piece of cake. He did great and I had a great time watching him!
Tacos on the street= divine tacos. Ok but really, the restaurant was called Tacos on the Street! I'm pretty sure we ordered 17 tacos in one sitting, and we probably could have ordered more if it weren't for... our pride.
This was the view from out condo. It was absolutely breath taking.
Our condo had 3 layers of eternity pools. We spent almost every morning out by the pool before embarking on our next adventure, I loved every minute. The condo did a great job with organizing different activities in and around the pool like water volleyball and water aerobics.
We were able to snorkel in through this cave (you can kind of see it in the background) and once you reached the shore it was a private little beach area in the middle of the island! The snorkeling wasn't awesome, but the caves were amazing!
We also boogy boarded almost every morning just out front of our condo. It was Dayne's first time and I had to practically drag him away each day, he would have stayed out there all day if I let him!
Now that we are back in Rexburg we haven't slowed down one bit. These are our neighbors that are just as adventurous as we are. We took a drive out to Swan Valley, Idaho where we scarfed up some famous square ice cream cones!
We couldn't pass up the opportunity to do to the Eastern Idaho State Fair. It was Dayne's first fair so we had to do everything that was at our finger tips including riding all the rides until we were sick, eating too much yummy food, pet the animals, watch the rodeo and look at all the crafts.
Dayne and I were even able to take a ride up to Mesa Falls and found this awesome diner! I think Dayne purposefully left his credit card there so we would have to go back. When we went back we couldn't pass up the chance of another ice cream shake! Yum.
Honestly, this summer has been one for the books. I don't think I realized just how bad I needed it. We took a good 4 months off from trying to start our family, not that it was out of my mind completely but I did feel like I was able to breath! I was actually able to see a baby on a commercial and not start tearing up, or see a pregnant woman and ask why not me. For the first time in months or even a year I was really laughing, I was able to relax! We spent a lot of our "baby fund", but to be honest I don't regret anything. Finally I was able to just enjoy my life as it is.
That's so awesome! We all absolutely loooooved having you guys so close!! You were my breath of fresh air!! I love you so much! Hey, how about we vow to always live within 20 minutes of each other?? Haha
ReplyDeleteYes! I will make that vow in a heart beat! I loved being able to come over whenever and just hang out. I love your cute family!
